Test shoot in the new booth

breanna136

Ok I finally had a big enough block of time to do my research and do a test in the spray booth. I used a test guitar, that was the product of testing the CNC programs and processes for the guitar time. It's not a usable guitar as it as no truss rod in the neck and I didn't install frets or do the final inlay design. The body is glued up alder utility wood which is far from perfect but I glued and sanded it up so I didn't have to do this test on the real guitar.

I put a drop or two of orange tint but used the good 2-part poly so I can see if it needs to be thinned or not ( nope). After cleaning the oils out of the brand new spray gun ( Aeropro R500 LVLP gun with 1.3 mm nozzle ) I set to spraying.

I did a flat board first to get the controls dialed in and then did the test guitar. It went really well. The gun performed as it should. The "rotisserie" jig to hold the guitar was great. Getting into some tight spots will take some attention but I layed down a decent first coat on fun-filled, unprimed wood. I don't think I'll use any more of this expensive poly finish on this mockup and go straight to the real thing next...
